Yakisugi Crane Stool

The Yakisugi Crane Stool began as a study in contrast — old technique, quiet drama. Its solid-wood frame is finished using the centuries-old Japanese yakisugi method, in which the surface is deliberately charred to deepen the grain and harden the wood against wear. Across that darkened surface, a crane is painted by hand: the traditional symbol of longevity and quiet strength. The result works as a seat, a footrest, or a low pedestal — and reads, unmistakably, as art. Only one is made; no reproductions will follow. Set it in an entryway, beside a reading chair, or anywhere a room could use a moment of stillness.

This item is made with naturual materials. If cared for properly, it will last for generations to come. Avoid excessive water exposure and humidity changes. If necessary, use a damp cloth with a small amount of soap to clean.

It is heavily encouraged to apply a wood wax or oil to the surface every 6-8 months with a soft cloth to maintain the integrity of the piece.
